Friday night live at Transistor: Andy Masters and Bluefront. Sound by Jon Monteverde.

Drawing on influences ranging from Asgeir to The Decemberists to Drake, Andy Masters arranges experimental acoustic sounds over delicate vocals and simple rhythms to create a uniquely meditative style of indie rock. Meditative indie rock means just that: This is pop music meant to be enjoyed in a dark room, on a slow-moving train, or in an intimate venue. An active musician in Chicago since 2011, Andy Masters released his first EP, "Closet Space," in May 2012. He plans to follow up with a full album mid-2015.

For this Transistor set Andy played some of his new songs and songs from his "Closet Space" EP, while switching between acoustic and electric guitars, set against looped rhythms on a drum machine.

Alan Zreczny is a singer-songwriter from Chicago. Music has always been part of his life. Even while pursuing other interests, he always thought of being a musician and writing songs as the most fulfilling modes of self-expression. Several years ago, he decided to try his hand at it and wrote his first song. He hasn't stopped since and in the process has created an imaginative and truly original body of work. Alan's songs are narrative poems set to spirited melodies, which he performs on the guitar and piano. In his lyrics, he often puts a new twist on age-old sayings, giving them a fresh, surprising new meaning. With Jason Steele, Alan formed Bluefront, which released its first EP, "The Arbor Sessions," in August 2014. For their Transistor set, Alan and Jason played playing songs from the EP, and more.
