Special Thursday night event: Jason Seed Stringtet. Sound by Jon Monteverde.

Members of the Milwaukee and Chicago Symphony Orchestras join pianist Marianne Parker and composer-guitarist Jason Seed to form the Jason Seed Stringtet. Original works played alongside pieces by Beethoven, Ellington, Mingus, Radiohead, Zappa, and traditional folk music from the U.S., Nigeria and more make up the eclectic sonic landscape of the group's music. The Stringtet's music has been featured on NPR's "Morning Edition," "All Things Considered" and "Lake Effect," in the film "Everglades of the North," and more.

For the Stringtet's performance at Transistor they performed original works alongside interpretations of Beethoven, Mingus, Rush, and folk music from around the world on bass, cello, viola, violin, guitar, and piano. They played two sets with a break in between.
