Friday night live at Transistor: minimalist American folk from Timothy Breen and song-based experimental music from Matt Christensen accompanied by Eric Eleazer & Brian Harding. Sound by Jon Monteverde.

Timothy Breen is a musician who has played for many years as a solo performer and in Chicago bands such as Slow Planes, American Musk Ox and manbirdbelly. As a solo artist Breen uses color and rhythmic patience, performing a distinctly minimalist variation of folk music, playing ballads, waltzes and improvisations inspired by a relentless and repetitive observation of place and time. Less experimental, the pieces are curious about the landscape of the instrument and its ability to tell a story.

For his Transistor Timothy played instrumental compositions and long-form rhythmic ballads with acoustic and electric guitar.

Matt Christensen is a Chicago-based musician who has played in the band Zelienople for close to 20 years. His primary instruments are voice and guitar. He has recorded and performed with Good Stuff House, John Twells, Mind Over Mirrors, and as a solo artist. Matt has released solo records on Bathetic Records, Under The Spire Records, and independently through Bandcamp.

For his performance at Transistor, Matt was joined by Brian Harding and Eric Eleazer. The set was a combination of slowcore ballads and improvised music.
