Friday night live at Transistor: acoustic indie pop from Survival Float, Henry Geraghty and Ocean Days. Sound by Jon Monteverde. 

Survival Float is a pop/rock act based in Chicago. The project is fronted and produced by vocalist and songwriter, Jess Hal.

Originally from a small Illinois town of 400, Jess took a seasonal job gutting salmon in Alaska to save for a move to a major city. You’ll now find him in Chicago creating music influenced by long-time idols Rufus Wainwright, Warren Zevon and Michael Nyman, all the way down to his childhood favorites of Oasis, Blur and George “Possum” Jones.

Jess has recently completed production of the Survival Float self-titled debut LP. Stream and purchase it on Bandcamp.

This Transistor performance was an acoustic set of the new album with Jess Hal on vocals, guitar and piano, and Brian Hartnett on backing vocals, keys, guitar and saxophone.

Henry Geraghty is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and performer who has been playing music for the majority of his life. While studying flute performance at Lawrence University in Wisconsin, Henry also has a solo project in which he sings, composes and plays multiple instruments (guitar, piano).

For this performance, Henry presented an acoustic set of his own material, singing and playing guitar. He was joined on drums by Zach Batteiger and on bass guitar by Dominic Frigo.

Blurring the lines between indie rock, acoustic music, post-rock and alternative, Ocean Days bring a unique and eclectic brand of indie-rock to the table. Playing music and songwriting since the age of 6, the band’s guitarist and vocalist Mihailo Ivanovic has been crafting his style of finger-picking, falsetto, dynamic chord progressions, and wide vocal range for years. For this acoustic performance, Mihailo played was accompanied by Henry Geraghty (bass guitar), Zach Batteiger (drums) and Dominic Frigo (keyboard).
