Friday night live at Transistor: Scuttlebuggs and Whiskey Tit. Sound by Jon Monteverde.
Scuttlebuggs is a charming musical duo that originated in Michigan but blossomed in Chicago. The band is comprised of Kevin Golden (formerly of the band Beaten By Yuri from Detroit) and Claire Kander (a squirrelly young actor who does voice-overs). Their unique vocal melodies and harmonies are the focal point of their sound. People have likened their duets to The Everly Brothers, Low and Simon & Garfunkel. Their debut album, "After Brilliance," was released in 2013 to glowing reviews: "Often singing together, their harmonies are delicate and graceful, and bring an indie edge to the Americana arrangements" (Leicester Bangs, U.K.). The songs were reviewed as "beautiful", "haunting" and "positively life-affirming."
Scuttlebuggs are currently working on their sophomore release. Inspired equally by the origins of rock, country, folk and doo-wop, this duo offers modern perspective to classic sounds. Enjoy. Please?
